Website Design & Development
Think of us as media architects… Strategy, organizational
logic, design, writing and programming capability are summoned to serve the higher purpose of
making a valuable asset - your company web site. We have a structured process to help your organization
quickly create and deploy an outstanding Web site.
Planning
Some clients come to us with a very clear vision of what their site will look
like and what it will say. Some have written content and sometimes images. Others don't yet have
an clear sense about what their message is or what exactly their site should look like. In both
cases, we must ascertain or help our client delineate a well-defined rationale for the Website,
which characterizes the needs and wants of his target audience, and determines how the site will
address those needs. Written goals and objectives are incorporated into a planning document we
call a creative brief.
Design
Guided by the creative brief, we set up a development program, which
includes a content outline, a site map, a navigation diagram, a graphic design scheme, and a set
of technical specifications. Our writers establish editorial criteria, construct an outline, and
begin writing and/or editing text content. Our graphic designers produce page layouts, create
images and text graphics, and work with the media designers to design and build interactive media
elements. Our interactive media designers plan and create the user interface, navigation elements,
animated graphics, forms, and e-mail portals. Finally, key pages and elements are assembled into
a presentation for review.
Production
After changes and adjustments to the initial design are made, we complete
the assembly of the site, combining all of the elements and testing them as we go. During this
process the site is temporarily uploaded to a staging site where the development team and the
client, can watch the site develop.
Publication
When production is completed we "go public" by uploading the site
to your host server. We will publish to your existing host or provide an Internet service package,
which could include providing a new domain name, handling details involved with positioning the
site in search engines, creating keyword "meta" files to attract the attention of browsers,
and making sure that your host's server has enough bandwidth and supports all of the server side
extensions, CGI scripts, and multimedia plug-ins your site contains.
Testing & Maintenance
We test your site for technical performance and we may conduct user
survey's to collect valuable information about how the public is responding to your site. We look
at the site metrics to determine the number of visitors and the most frequently visited pages
at your site. We look at the amount of bandwidth your site is consuming to make sure that your
server is efficiently handling the load. We provide the mechanism for inserting new material into
the site and editing out unwanted content.
